Start building KPI systems that connect.

Product uses one framework. Marketing uses another. Operations downloads a different template.

Same company. Different blueprints. Incompatible systems.

The PATH Canvas fixes this—it's a design system for building KPI frameworks using shared components, shared structure, and shared language.

Whether you're running OKRs, building Goal Trees, or tracking metrics with 4DX, you use the same building blocks. Your systems stay compatible. Your teams stay aligned.

What is PATH?

PATH gives you two things:

1. Four dimensions that embed KPIs in strategy and execution:

  • Policy — Strategic foundation (goals, owners, alignment)
  • Action — Execution framework (how you arrange metrics)
  • Team — Roles and accountability (who owns what)
  • Habit — Continuous improvement (review cycles, iteration)

2. Five standardized building blocks (Key Performance Drivers):

  • North Star Metric — Your core business value measure
  • Goals — High-level outcomes you're driving toward
  • Objectives — Time-bound milestones that make goals trackable
  • Activities — Tactical work that turns plans into action
  • KPIs — Metrics that measure progress and trigger improvement

Use these components across any framework. OKRs, Goal Trees, ROKS KPI Trees, 4DX—they all work with the same blocks, arranged in the same structure.

Who's this for?

Leaders managing cross-functional teams where alignment matters—founders, Heads of Operations, Product Leaders, GTM Directors, Strategy Leads.

If your teams track metrics but can't connect their work, this is for you.

What you'll get:

  • Interoperable systems — Product's objectives connect to Marketing's activities because they're built the same way
  • Strategic clarity — Every KPI ties back to goals, owners, and review routines
  • Framework flexibility — Six proven approaches (OKRs, Goal Trees, 4DX, Lean Analytics, ROKS, KPI Trees)
  • A shared language — Everyone defines metrics the same way

How it works:

  1. Set strategic foundation (Policy) — Define your goal, owner, alignment, constraints
  2. Choose your framework (Action) — Pick the approach that fits your challenge
  3. Build with standard components — Use North Star Metric, Goals, Objectives, Activities, KPIs
  4. Assign accountability (Team) — Map who's responsible using RACI
  5. Establish habits (Habit) — Set weekly, monthly, quarterly review cycles

The result: KPI systems that connect across teams, stay tied to strategy, and get managed—not just measured.

Six frameworks. One design system.

PATH includes methodologies for different challenges:

  • ROKS KPI Tree — Align strategic, tactical, operational KPIs organization-wide
  • KPI Tree — Link customer behavior to product metrics to business outcomes
  • Goal Tree — Break complex objectives into steps (Theory of Constraints)
  • OKR Tree — Track quarterly performance, cascade goals across teams
  • 4DX Tree — Drive execution with lead and lag measures
  • Lean Analytics — Run experiments, validate hypotheses, iterate

Different frameworks. Same components. Same structure. Systems that connect.
